About Me
My name is Carly Benjamin, and I am a Registered Nurse with a specialty certification in Hospice and Palliative Care. With 12 years of nursing practice in oncology, home-based hospice, and inpatient hospice, I have been working with clients and families in end-of-life experiences for my entire nursing career.
Over time, one thing has become abundantly clear: something is missing from the healthcare system in the way we talk about death.
Time after time in my work as a hospice nurse, I met individuals and families who were unprepared for what was coming. The avoidance of these conversations throughout the illness led to countless people spending their final days in fear and crisis, instead of being able to love and care for each other in the way they had hoped.
After sitting with thousands of families in these circumstances, the same thought kept popping up in my head: there has to be a different way.
The ability and willingness to talk candidly about death in healthcare is uncommon, and this is where I look to change the way it’s being done. I am here to help you and your family understand and navigate the transition between life and death.
